Privacy for the Optimism to Scroll direction
Where offered, Private Route is intended to reduce an obvious direct association between the Optimism sending wallet and Scroll receiving wallet; it does not hide either blockchain. ETH is the native gas asset for Optimism. EVM 0x account address ETH is the native gas asset for Scroll. EVM 0x account address Similar amounts, timing, address reuse, and later consolidation can still add association signals. Identity requirements must be checked separately.
Optimism source-side visibility
Optimism exposes account history, token approvals, contract calls, logs, gas funding, amounts, and timing under its own chain identifier. OP Mainnet is an OP Stack optimistic rollup with sequenced L2 execution and Ethereum settlement. Its canonical withdrawal model has different timing from ordinary L2 inclusion, and OP Mainnet token contracts are distinct from Ethereum and other OP Stack chains. The source deposit, gas funding, asset representation, confirmations, and sending-address history remain outside any promise of invisibility.
Scroll destination-side visibility
Scroll exposes account history, token approvals, contract calls, logs, gas funding, amounts, and timing under its own chain identifier. It is a bytecode-compatible zero-knowledge EVM rollup that proves batches to Ethereum. Scroll inclusion and Ethereum proof settlement are distinct, and its token contracts must be verified independently from L1. The destination delivery and later activity can remain observable even when the provider path reduces a direct association.
Optimism deposit role versus Scroll receipt role
An OP Mainnet source uses sequenced OP Stack execution and ETH gas; ordinary route processing is not the same as the canonical L2 withdrawal delay. Those deposit-side events remain public. A Scroll receipt is an L2 native or contract balance whose proof settlement to Ethereum is a separate milestone; later activity uses ETH on Scroll. The receipt and later activity remain public.
Two EVM histories can still be compared
Optimism and Scroll use separate chain identifiers, balances, contracts, transaction hashes, and gas records even when address syntax matches. Sequencer inclusion and settlement timing can add further observable milestones.
WETH wrapper and unwrap evidence; WETH wrapper and unwrap evidence
WETH approvals, wrapper transfers, and later unwrap activity remain visible contract events. A private route does not turn WETH into an unrecorded native ETH balance. WETH leaves through a wrapper contract and needs native chain gas. A WETH token balance cannot pay the gas required to submit its own transfer. The source transfer remains public. WETH approvals, wrapper transfers, and later unwrap activity remain visible contract events. A private route does not turn WETH into an unrecorded native ETH balance. WETH arrives as a token contract balance. It may need an explicit unwrap before becoming native ETH and cannot itself pay transaction gas. The destination receipt and later use remain public even when direct wallet association is reduced.
Cross-chain linkability limits
Private routing can reduce an obvious link between two EVM accounts, but source approvals, gas, logs, destination contract or native receipt, and later activity remain on separate chain histories. Sequencer and settlement timing can add correlation evidence. It may need an explicit unwrap before becoming native ETH and cannot itself pay transaction gas.
Verification status is separate from privacy status
The provider must support the exact L2 direction, asset contracts, amount, and region. Rollup support and privacy routing do not imply that identity verification, account, or custody requirements are absent.
